The saga of Plaxico Burress....oh yea and his glock

Enough is Enough!!!
Alright I'm so fed up with people coming up with these worthless excuses for wide receiver Plaxico Burress. As we all know he "accidentally" shot himself in the leg over the weekend while sitting in the VIP section of the Manhattan club Latin Quarters. Read the previous blog for details....Basically he refused attention from the security guards when they offered to call paramedics, instead he had his teammate Antonio Pierce drive him to the hospital. Upon entrance, Burress told members of the hospital staff that his name was "Harry Smith", and that he was shot at an Applebees Restaurant. After a weekend filled of drama the troubled receiver eventually turned himself in, along with his lawyer on yesterday where he was arraigned and charged with counts of illegal weapon possession.

So whats next?? In 2006, Mayor Bloomberg initiated a law that specifically states that if anyone is caught with possession of an illegal weapon, a mandatory sentence of 3 1/2 years will be served. Now many of you are saying that the crime doesn't fit the punishment..or they are taking this situation way to seriously...Can someone please tell me what makes Burress so different from any other human being. I know that the fact of him being a NFL Superbowl superstar intrigues a lot of you, but think about all of the other people out there who may have committed the same crime and are now serving time for it. Wake up people!! Laws are implemented for particular reasons, not just because. In this case Mayor Bloomberg implemented this law to decease crimes that were being caused by firearms. Many of you want to criticize this particular law when it comes to this story, and then you want to whine about this being an advantage for the city of New York to make and example out of Burress.

Did he not understand the gun laws of New York? Maybe he did, maybe he didn't, but I beg to differ. There is NO excuse, if you carry a weapon then you should know the law. There is no doubt in my mind that the troubled receiver was well aware of the law, not only him but the other teammate as well. Calm down, and just think about it. Why all of the falsified stories on where and how the incident happened? Why did they feel the need to hide the gun? Why did Burress decline the attention of a paramedic, when his life was endanger? Like I said before no excuses, if he felt unsafe going into this particular club without his gun, then he should have found another club to go to. This guy is overrated and is a prime example of another guy being paid millions and millions of dollars in this league not only to act a pure fool, but to also cause ongoing negative attention for a team that he is supposed to be representing.

One thing that really bothers me is that many of these players seem to forget the billions of kids that look up to them, and dream about being just like them when they grow up. People are also failing to realize that as easy as the gun went off and shot him, it could have just as easy did the same to a by stander.

One moment we see him holding a trophy, the next, led away in handcuffs. There are so many people out there who have lost jobs, lost homes, lost retirements, and pretty much everything they've worked for their entire lives. Many are becoming more impatient, not to mention fearing the future. With all of this going on, it amazes me how a man that is blessed with a $35 million contract cant seem to follow gun laws. Now Burress is suspended for the remaining of the year without pay all because of a stupid thoughtless mistake.

Plaxico Burress ACCIDENTLY shoots himself in the leg

This dude is out of control....Seriously... New York Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress' drama filled season may slowly be coming to an end. The New York Giants wide receiver accidentally shot himself in the right thigh Friday night, not long after being ruled out of Sunday's game against the Washington Redskins with a hamstring injury in the same leg.
Here is how the story is being reported....

Burress, 31, was allegedly trying to enter Manhattan night club "LQ" with teammate Antonio Pierce when they were stopped by security guards. Burress then admitted to the guards that he was carrying a gun. He then allegedly went over to a secluded area with a guard and took the gun out. Burress apparently started trying to unload the gun and bobbled it. An accidental shot went off and went through his leg. Security then tried to call an ambulance, but Burres said told them not to. He took himself to Cornell Medical Center, where he spent the night and was released at 2 p.m. Saturday after being treated. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. Now, there are numerous reports that Burress has a concealed-weapon permit from the state of Florida that expired in May 2008. However, the states of New York and New Jersey do not recognize permits from Florida, so Burress could indeed be charged in the incident. Since the incident, Burress has retained a New York defense attorney to represent him.

One thing that just isn't sticking well with me is that I find it hard to believe that the entire Giants organization is clueless as to what has happened. Giants general manager Jerry Reese said Sunday that he had yet to speak to Burress. He states, and I quote, "I reached out to him I did not get a return phone call."
So far this has been a troubled year for Burress who signed a five-year, $35 million contract hours before the season opened in September. The signing came after an unsettling off-season which Burress was fined $25,000 for refusing to practice during a mandatory mini-camp in June. In addition he also missed most of training camp with a sprained ankle. The 31-year-old was also suspended for a game and fined $117,500 for missing a team meeting due to what he called a "family emergency"(taking his daughter to school) and failing to notify the team of his absence. He also was fined $45,000 by the NFL in October after a game against the 49ers, when he abused an official and tossed a ball into the stands.

What is the future for Burress in New York? It seems that the Giants organization would be taking a major chance on keeping the star receiver next season, although he is a great player, one lingering question will be can he be depended on as a player.
From off season to the current season, so far Burresss acts as if he is living in a world of his own. Why is it that athletes feel the need to carry guns? Unfortunately with all of the compiled drama from Burress, this incident will now lead to an investigation from the NFL on whether Burress violated its Personal Conduct Policy, which could then lead to a suspension. With this recent incident just piling upon the previous ones, its true yet sad to say that Plaxico Burress' controversial year has just taken a turn for the worse.

McNabb OUT!!!!!

Wow what an embarrassing moment!!! Starting quarterback Donovan McNabb of the Philadelphia Eagles gets benched during the game and back-up quarterback Kevin Kolb took over for the team. Both performances were very similar; McNabb's record from the game consisted of 8 completed passes, 18 attempted passes, and 2 interceptions,and a total of 59 yards; while Kolb's record from the game was 10 completed passes, 23 attempted passes, and 2 interceptions, with a total of 73yds. After the 36-7 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, Eagles Coach Any Reid stated, "That he was going to have a long talk with McNabb," but would not elaborate on any further details if Donovan would still be the starting quarterback of the Eagles when they take on the Arizona Cardinals Thanksgiving night.

I wanna know your thoughts...Should McNabb be replaced, or should he be able to finish the remaining of the season?

Uh-ohhhh.....new info on "Pacman"

Sources now say that Adam "Pacman" Jones could finally be down to his "LAST" chance. Sources are saying that this time Pacman has to strictly adhere to the terms of his reinstatement, and get this if any, and I mean annyyyyy missteps may seem to come at any time. It would lead to a lifetime ban from the NFL.
Jones will return to Valley Ranch for practice tomorrow, and he will be eligible to play Dec. 7th when the Cowboys take on the Pittsburgh Steelers at Pittsburgh.
So what happens now? Adam, must now continue going to an intensive rehab and counseling only as an outpatient basis. Another term of his reinstatement is that even if Jones happens to miss an appointment, it would also have an effect on the troubled corners career in the NFL. I guess that's what should be expected after all of the many chances he's been given.

GETCHA Popcorn Ready!!!!!

Congratulations are in order for Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Terrell Owens. After a long week of controversy over the anticipated airing of the "penthouse" interview that he did with former Cowboy cornerback Deion Sanders, the receiver has once again proved that age is just a number. While taking on the 3-7 San Fransisco 49ers, the wide-out put up record numbers that were the second most of his career. Behind only the 283 yards he had in the 2000 game in which he caught an NFL-record of 20 passes, back when he played for the 49ers, and the fifth-best in Cowboys history. Many may have watched the interview that aired today on the NFL Network, but for those who did not, during the interview with Sanders the frustrated receiver had this to say regarding his offensive coach, "The thing is, if Garrett is smart enough to know what has made me successful all my years, he'll go back to the offense and the type of formations and things that I did that were successful in San Francisco."
Did Garrett go back to the type of offensive plays that Owens is used to? Wellll... during the post game interviews both Owner Jerry Jones,and Offensive coach Jason Garrett stated that the game plan had not been changed.
After all of the complaining and criticisms of the Cowboys offense this week, T.O. finished today's game with a total of seven catches for 213 yards, including a 75-yard touchdown, in the Cowboys' 35-22 victory over the 49ers. Within the last couple of weeks, players seem to be clicking and playing to the statue of those million dollar contracts that they are under.
One thing that remains un-predictable is the fact that no one knows how long this team will continue to play with the amount of explosiveness that's been shown. On the other hand one main thing that has become evident is that since the return of quarterback Tony Romo this team has not only their swagger back, but they have also played with confidence, and much more heart.
The 'Boys take on the 2-8 Seattle Seahawks on Thanksgiving day. After today's performance T.O. said "they unleashed him"...and too add on to that let me be the first to say that you might want to not only get the turkey ready, but to also "GETCHA" popcorn ready!!!!!

What tha heck is wrong with Texas Tech??? Current score is 28-0...Oklahoma Sooners are up. This is bananas, this sure isnt the same team that has been playing consistently the last couple of weeks. You cant blame the weather because its just as cold even colder at times in the "LBK" Lubbock. Oh yea and let me remind you that it is only the first half and this Oklahoma defense is shutting Tech down. I wonder if Tech would be able to make a comeback like they did against the Texas Longhorns.....

Could Edgerrin James become a Cowboy??

With Felix Jones being placed on IR the Cowboys are somewhat in the market for another running back to help out Barber with carries. It's funny that this may come as a surprise, but Arizona Cardinals running back Edgerrin James is wanting out of the ARI. Current reports have been confirmed by the backs agent Drew Rosenhaus.

Rosenhaus said the request to be released was made last week and that he will continue to speak with Cardinals management. For those that may not know, James lost his starting job to rookie Tim Hightower, and over the last three games, James has had only 3 carries for 5 yards.

With it being apparent that the running back wants out of the Cardinals organization would he be a good fit for the 'Boys? Maybe so due to his status of being a 1000-yard back, and being healthy. But then again with James complaining about being a back-up running back, I don't think there's any chance that James has a chance in taking "The Barbarian's" spot as the starting running back.

In addition to an initial signing bonus of $7 million, James currently has a 4-year contract that is worth $30 million. The base salaries in the contract were $3.25 million (for 2006), $5.25 million (2007), $5 million (2008) and $5 million (2009).
Arizona is hoping to clinch their first NFC West title with a win Sunday vs. Giants and a 49ers loss vs. Cowboys.
