Pac-Rat still in the open market

Cornerback Pacman Jones says that he stills wants to play in the NFL. Whether or not somebody still wants him remains to be seen. According to Jones, the Jets have expressed interest, but are waiting things out.

Jones' agent Worrick Robinson said he hopes to get his client signed by training camp and wouldn't discuss which teams are interested.

When asked if the Cowboys, Jones' last employer, have requested a return engagement, Robinson said no.

The Brett Farve Saga continues

Well well well, the Brett Favre saga seems to be the story that will never end. Nowadays he seems to be sending shoulder MRIs to the Vikings, and if everything goes well, there is another possibility that he will consider un-retiring for the second time. It does'nt matter if his shoulder is fine or not, the Vikings need to be aware of how unlikely it is that Favre will be the answer to the team's quarterback problems.
Reality is that these days 40-year-old quarterbacks are very lucky if they make it through the season healthy, asking them to lead a team to the playoffs is too much.

If the Vikings are serious about bringing Favre in, it would make sense for them to sit him down for the first half of the season, then start playing him as the season hits November and December if Sage Rosenfels/Tarvaris Jackson are playing as expected. Or they could use him like Don Shula used Earl Morrall and Don Strock in the twilights of their careers--he would bring them in as relievers to pick up the team when it needed a lift. Doing this would save the few fire balls left in Favre's.

Oakland's first rounder GONE...for now

Darrius Heyward-Bey was selected by the Oakland Raiders in the first round of the NFL Draft for one main reason, SPEED. The former Maryland wideout has tons of it, and while that may not be enough to justify his selection to anyone with a brain most people, it was enough for Al Davis.

Unfortunately, there is bad news it appears Mr. Heyward-Bey's speed comes with a troublesome side effect: injury. Darrius messed up his hamstring and sat out the final day of minicamp because he was "running too fast."

Now, it's probably not that big a deal that Heyward-Bey is taking some time off. But if there's one thing that the rookie wide receiver does really, really well, it's running really, really fast.
